Abstract:The recovery of styrene from pyrolysis gasoline is the hot spot that raises the added value, the selective hydrogenation of cracking C8 fraction rich in styrene to removal of phenylacetylene is one of the keys to this technology. The prepared SHPA nickel-based catalysts were used to catalyze selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene. Effects of the catalyst composition, additives, the pore structure of supports and reaction conditions on the hydrogenation of phenylacetylene were investigated in a fixed bed reactor. The catalysts were characterized and the reaction products were analyaed. The results showed that the phenylacetylene conversion was 100%, while styrene hydrogenation loss was less than 3%. The activity, selectivity and stability of SHPA catalyst can satisfy the need of removal of phenylacetylene in C8 fraction of pyrolysis gasoline by selective hydrogenation for commercial application.
