Abstract:Cerium dioxide is a photocatalyst with high ultra-violet light absorption capacity, which can be used as catalyst support to load noble metal by photo-reduction deposition process. In this research, Pt/CeO2 composite catalyst for ammonia oxidation process was prepared by this method, and characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy spectrum (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), BET, inductive coupled plasma (ICP), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD). The catalytic performance for ammonia oxidation reaction conducted in the Æ4 mm×2 mm quartz reaction tube was also evaluated. The results showed that the content of active component Pt in the prepared Pt/CeO2 catalyst was only 0.079 7% with high dispersion on the surface of ceria support. Ammonia conversion reached 100% with the yield of nitrogen oxides being as high as 80% at 800 °C when the molar ratio of oxygen to ammonia was 1:15.
