Abstract:Using air as oxidant and water as solvent, the effects of pH value, reaction temperature, substrate concentration, catalyst dosage and cycle times on the performances of Pd/C catalyst in the catalytic oxidation of xylose to xylose acid were investigated. Under the conditions of air velocity 0.4 L/min, mass faction of Pd/C catalyst (mass fraction 5%) 1.0 g, pH value 9, reaction temperature 50 ℃, initial concentration of xylose 0.4 mol/L and reaction time 4 h, the conversion of substrate and selectivity of xylose acid reached 99.2% and 99.1%, respectively. Under the appropriate conditions, the Pd/C catalyst could be recovered and used several times.
