Abstract:Phenolic resin microspheres modified by lignin were prepared by reaction of formaldehyde with phenol partially replaced by lignin. The effects of lignin replacement, molar ratio of phenol to formaldehyde, dosage of dispersant and catalyst on the products were studied. The results showed that the addition of lignin significantly reduced the particle size of the modified phenolic resin microspheres (LPR). When the replacement amount of lignin was 40% (mass fraction), molar ratio of phenol to formaldehyde was 1:1.3, dosage of dispersant was 2.5% (mass fraction) and dosage of catalyst was 2.5% (mass fraction), the particle size of the modified phenolic resin microspheres ranged from 50 μm to 100 μm was prepared. The addition of lignin improved the thermal stability of LPR microspheres, and the carbon content of LPR microspheres was still high.
