Abstract:In order to develop novel liquid crystal materials, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were used as reinforcement phase to disperse into liquid crystal polymer matrix, and polymer liquid crystal materials were designed and synthesized. MWNTs were modified by mixed acid and the composite materials were prepared by in-situ polymerization and polymer liquid crystal under microwave conditions. The structures and properties of the products were characterized by hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and thermopolarized light microscopy (POM). The results showed that the composite materials obtained by this method combine stably during heating and melting, and arranged in order in the liquid crystal phase eddy current line. At the same time, the width of the liquid crystal phase increases, and the properties of the polymer liquid crystal are improved.
