Abstract:In this paper, the spent Co-Mo hydrogenation catalyst was treated by a weak alkaline leaching agent, a mixture of ammonium hydroxide and ammonium carbonate solution, and factors affecting the leaching of metal elements (Mo and Co) were investigated. Single leaching agent would cause Al leaching, and thus lead problems for its subsequent utilization. When the concentration of ammonium hydroxide was 8 mol/L and the concentration of ammonium carbonate was 0.5 mol/L, the ratio of solid-to-liquid was 1:25 at 70 ℃ for three consecutive leaching, the leaching rate of Mo reached 90.21%, and the leaching rate of Co reached 69.22%. Alkaline leaching of spent Co-Mo hydrogenation catalyst is a promising method to recover heavy metal from solid waste.
