Abstract:The phase behavior of alkyl ether carboxylate surfactants with cationic surfactant was studied. The effects of anionic surfactant structure, molar ratio, salinity and group number of polyether on the phase behavior of the anionic-cationic complex system were investigated by the phase behavior experiment. The optimum salinities were found out for the different mixtures as 30 g/L, 100 g/L and 200 g/L. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) and surface tension of anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants and the mixture of anionic-cationic surfactants were tested. The results showed that these mixtures produced ultralow CMC (2mg/L), low surface tension (32 mN/m), and high oil solubilization parameter (SP=12). The experiment results were possibly useful in developing new mixture of anionic/cationic surfactant used for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) application in different reservoir in the future.
