Abstract:A 65 000 tons/year sulfur recovery project was taken as the research object and the research on energy saving of the regeneration tower of methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) in the process of removing hydrogen sulfide from the refinery by the alcoholamine method was carried out. The heat pump distillation process of the amine regeneration tower was established by using steam compression heat pump technology. The simulation calculation was carried out using the process simulation software Aspen Plus for investigating effects of the number of stages, reboiling ratio and compression ratio on the ammonia regeneration process. Under the condition of ensuring the desorption effect, the process was optimized with the lowest energy consumption. The results showed that in comparison to conventional distillation, the heating energy consumption and cooling energy consumption of the heat pump distillation process were reduced by 24.14% and 71.10%, respectively, which significantly reduced energy consumption and improved economic benefits.
