Abstract:This paper overviewed the processing and outcomes of the National High Technology Research and Development Program ‘863’ supported project entitled as ‘Key Techniques of Design, Preparation and Applications of Foam SiC Based Structured Catalyst’. The research contents of this project included the preparation and properties of foam SiC supports, the preparation of regular packing with foam SiC, the preparation of various active coatings on foam SiC and their applications of foam SiC based structured catalysts in several chemical reactions. In comparison to traditional catalysts, such as particulate catalyst, the foam SiC based designable structure catalysts developed in this project demonstrated stronger transfer ability of heat and mass.
