Industrial Pilot Tests of HLD-002 Catalyst for Toluene Disproportionation and Transalkylation

Abstract: The industrial pilot tests of dual-functional HLD-002 catalyst for toluene disproportionation and transalkylation was carried out. The effects of reaction parameters such as reaction pressure, hydrogen purity and hydrogen to hydrocarbon ratio on the reaction performance were investigated and the optimized operation parameters of HLD-002 catalyst were obtained. The results of long period operation of HLD-002 catalyst on the industrial tests showed that a relatively high overall conversion rate (above 45%) and total selectivity (88.5%) under high space velocity condition (WHSV 3.5 h-1) could be maintained with high capacity for heavy aromatics treatment at high space velocity. The conversion rate of C10 heavy aromatics could reach above 63%. Through the optimization of the composite bed process, HLD-002 toluene disproportionation and transalkylation catalysts could guarantee the purity of benzene products under high space velocity. Industrial polit- tests results showed that HLD-002 catalyst met the requirements of large-scale industrial applications.
