Commercial Application of Energy-Saving AB-19-T Ethylbenzene Catalyst

Abstract:To promote ethylbenzene transalkylation technology, and to assist enterprises in reducing costs and increasing efficiency, SINOPEC Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology Company Limited had developed a new generation of energy-saving vapor-phased ethylbenzene alkylation catalyst AB-19-T based on high-efficiency gas-solid crystallization technology. The industrial application tests of AB-19-T had been successfully conducted in SINOPEC Guangzhou Petroleumical Company's 80 000 t/a vapor-phased ethylene-to-ethylbenzene unit. Due to the transformation of binders into active zeolite crystals, AB-19-T demonstrated significantly superior overall performance compared to the previous generation catalysts containing binders. After operating stably for 26 months, the reaction inlet temperature of AB-19-T was maintained at approximately 430 ℃, which was over 15 ℃ lower than previous generation of catalyst. The diethylbenzene conversion and ethylbenzene selectivity also remained stable at above 50% and 99.5% respectively.
