Abstract:The flow behavior of gas going through particle clusters in FCC risers was simulated. The results showed that the flux of gas getting into the cluster was much less than that flowing around the cluster due to the resistance of cluster. The force acting on each particle of cluster was different from each other. The characteristics of clusters had great effects on the flow behavior of gas going through clusters. It was found that the flux of gas getting into a cluster and the total force acting on particles increased with the increase of cluster porosity; while they decreased with increasing the size of cluster. The gas velocity had a minor impact on the flow behavior of gas going through clusters.
