Abstract:Polyester resin was prepared by polycondensation of isophthalic acid (IPA) and hydroxyethylated bisphenol A (BPA-EO) under molten state. According to the concept of concentration based on the mass of the solution, the first order and second order kinetic equations were established respectively, and the concentration of hydroxyl group was calculated by the water separated from the reaction mixture for curve fitting. The results showed that the square of the linear correlation coefficient for first and second order reaction models were both greater than 0.99. Through the residual evaluation, it was found that the first order kinetic equation could better fit the kinetic experimental data, indicating that the reaction of IPA with BPA-EO was a first order reaction. The reaction activation energy (Ea) was 12.27 kJ/mol, and the pre-exponential factor (k0) was 0.0831min-1.
