Abstract:High oil absorption resins (SOAR) were synthesized using methyl dedocyl acrylate and styrene as monomers by suspension polymerization. Effects of the dosage of chemical cross-linking agent, initiator and paraffin on the kinetics of oil release for high oil absorption resin were investigated. It was found that the dosage of chemical cross-linking agent increase, the oil release of SOAR could decrease, while the equilibrium time of oil release was shorter. Using paraffin, the maximum of oil absorption increased, but could not affect the oil release. With the increase of the initiator dosage, the maximum of the oil absorption and the oil release decreased. The diffusion coefficient(D) was calculated by the Toro equation. The curves of experimental data agreed with theoretical curves well, which indicated that the spherical diffusion model could be used to describe the kinetics of the oil release.
