Abstract:To investigate the industrial application performance of the GS-12 ethylbenzene dehydrogenation catalyst in a styrene unit, the GS-12 catalyst was evaluated by analyzing the adiabatic bed reaction temperature, weight ratio of steam-to-ethylbenzene, ethylbenzene feed load, reaction system pressure drop, and catalytic performance. The commercial application results demonstrated that GS-12 catalyst exhibited a low initial reaction temperature and strong heat sensitivity, with a gentle temperature rise in the dehydrogenation reactor. It exhibited high crush strength, slow bed pressure-drop growth, excellent resistance to pulverization and fluctuation, and good stability. Under high-load feed conditions with an average ethylbenzene feed load of 102.9%, the catalyst maintained an ethylbenzene conversion at around 65.0% and a styrene selectivity at around 97.7%, indicating a high styrene yield. With a lifespan of up to 33 months, the catalyst demonstrated remarkable stability. These findings highlight the promising industrial applications of the GS-12 catalyst.
