Abstract:In the cold model experimental setup of an airlift reactor, the influence of gas distributor type and structural parameters on the flow field and mass transfer was studied. The results showed that compared with the ring distributor and the four nozzle distributor, the hemispherical distributor had higher average gas holdup, more uniform radial distribution function of gas holdup, smaller bubble diameter, larger specific surface area, higher liquid velocity in the downcomer, and higher liquid volume mass transfer coefficient. Choosing a hemispherical gas distributor in an airlift wastewater treatment reactor could achieve better mixing and mass transfer effects. Further investigation was conducted on the effects of the opening rate and angle of the hemispherical distributor on gas holdup, liquid velocity in the descending section, and volumetric mass transfer coefficient. The optimal opening rate was determined to be 0.457%, and the optimal opening angle was 45. The research results can provide a basis for the industrial design and operational optimization of airlift reactors.
