Abstract:The catalysts for carbonyl sulfur (COS) hydrolysis were prepared by impregnating different alkali metals and transition metals with alumina as support. The effects of support type, alkali metal type and transition metal type on COS hydrolysis performance over the catalysts were investigated. The results showed that the alumina support with large pore volume and large pore size exhibited the best performance for COS hydrolysis. Compared with alkali metal Na, the catalyst supported by K showed better catalytic performance for COS hydrolysis, because the alkalinity of its oxide was stronger when the atomic radius of the alkali metal was larger. After the catalyst supported by K was again loaded with the transition metal Zn, the weak base center of this catalyst (Y-ZnK) increased and the catalytic activity and stability of Y-ZnK for COS hydrolysis exhibited better. For the system of COS hydrolysis at ambient temperature, H2O content influenced greatly on the results of COS hydrolysis, the better molar ratio of H2O to COS was 2:1-8:1. There was no obvious effect on COS hydrolysis when a small amount of H2S and CO2 presented in the system.
