Abstract:Highly efficient catalytic conversion of renewable biomass platform compound 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-dicarboxyfuran (DFF) can reduce the reliance on fossil raw materials and achieve sustainable economic development. Herein, the reaction mechanism and oxidation product distribution of HMF catalytic oxidation under different reaction conditions were deeply discussed, and the important factors of selective oxidation of HMF to DFF, namely catalytic system, were described in detail. The preparation of DFF by selective oxidation of HMF catalyzed by traditional metal salts, supported precious metals, transition metal oxides, composite metal oxides, non-metallic catalysts, photocatalysis and electrochemical oxidation under various process conditions were summarized. In addition, the development of new catalytic systems and the development prospect of biomass energy were prospected.
