Abstract:Zr-SCM-1 zeolite was successfully prepared by solid state ion exchange method based on a delaminated MWW-type zeolite SCM-1. The catalyst was systematically characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP), NH3-temperature programmed desorption (NH3-TPD), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier infrared spectroscopy of pyridine adsorption (Py-IR) methods. The results showed that Zr-SCM-1 zeolite not only had large surface area (408 m2/g), but also had Lewis and Br?nsted acid sites. With furfural as substrate, isopropanol as hydrogen donor and solvent, Zr-SCM-1 zeolite was found to be capable of converting furfural into γ-valerolactone via a one-pot process. Under optimal conditions, the yield of γ-valerolactone reached 55.7% with fully conversion of furfural, besides, Zr-SCM-1 zeolite had a good stability.
