Abstract:Developing a green synthetic route for the conversion of biobased platform compound furfural to 1,5-pentadiol is an effective way to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. In this paper, Pd-MoO3/TiO2 bifunctional catalyst was designed, prepared, and characterized by N2 physical adsorption and desorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The active components and support of the catalyst were screened, the catalyst with the Mo/Pd atomic number ratio of 1.5 was selected, and the hydrogen hydrolysis reaction path of furfural was explored. The results showed that the furfural could be completely transformed within 2 h under the condition of 150 ℃ and H2 pressure of 3 MPa. The yield of 1,5-pentadiol could reach 56%. The activity of the catalyst had no obvious decrease after repeated use for 5 times.
