Abstract:Vinyl acetate is one of the top 50 chemical raw materials in the world. With China’s economic development entering a new normal, the vinyl acetate manufacturing industry is facing challenges and needs to be improved and upgraded urgently. The project was to improve the technology based on the existing production technology of Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited and to seek the overall upgrading of the industry. Some technologies such as sub-column absorption, gas recovery, double effect distillation and heat pump evaporation were used to reduce energy consumption and material consumption. The new reactor and tower equipment were designed to meet the process requirements efficiently. The improved process was simulated and the process parameters were optimized by Aspen Plus software. The simulation results showed that the energy consumption, carbon emission and water consumption decreased by 53.9%, 55.1% and 36.1% respectively, in the improved process, and comprehensive utilization rate of solid waste was 84%. Which meets the requirements of Green Development 2020 in "Made in China 2025".
