Simulation of Syngas Methanation Process and Analysis of Influencing Factors in a Circulating Fluidized Bed Reactor

Abstract:This research deals with the simulation and anaylsis of methanation circulating fluidized bed reactor. The computational particle fluid dynamics (CPFD) method was coupled with the methanation reaction kinetics model to simulate the reaction process of methanation in a circulating fluidized bed. The internal flow field, temperature field and gas species concentration distribution of the reactor were obtained and were verified with the experimental data in the literature. Numerical simulation was adopted to study the influence of different operating conditions on the methanation characteristics. The results showed that the fluidization behavior of the catalyst particles in the reactor had a significant effect on the reaction. The solid dense phase zone of the reactor riser was the main reaction area. The CO conversion and methane yield could be improved by increasing the reaction pressure and the molar ratio of H2 to CO, and reducing the space velocity.
