Abstract:In order to improve the regeneration performance of methyl nitrite (MN) and to reduce the production of by-product nitric acid, a high gravity-reactor was adopted to study the regeneration process of nitric oxide (NO) oxidative esterification synthesis of MN. The effects of operating conditions, including gas inlet mode, reaction temperature, molar ratios of CH3OH to NO, and NO to O2 on the yield of MN were investigated, and the appropriate process conditions were obtained. The results showed that MN yield reached more than 96% at atmosphere pressure when NO and O2 were fed into the reactor separately and mixed at the reaction temperature 30-50 ℃, molar ratio of CH3OH to NO 2-6, molar ratio of NO to O2 5-7. The pilot tests showed that the results of small scale trials have magnified guiding significance for the scale design and process operation of the MN regeneration.
