Synthesis and Process Development of N,N-Dialkylethanolamine

Abstract:The reaction process of synthesizing N,N-dibutylethanolamine with dibutylamine (DBA) as the raw material and ethylene oxide (EO) as the hydroxyethylation reagent was optimized. When the molar ratio of the raw material (EO/DBA) was 0.8, the temperature was 65 ℃, the catalyst was 5% water, and the ethylene oxide injection rate was controlled by maintaining the system pressure not exceeding 1 MPa, the yield of the target product N,N-dibutylethanolamine was high. Through further substrate development, the process route was also applicable to the synthesis of N,N-dimethylethanolamine, N,N-diethylethanolamine and N,N-dipropylethanolamine.
