Oxidation Kinetics of Synthesis of Adipic Acid from 1,2-Cyclohexanediol

Abstract:The oxidation kinetics of synthesis of adipic acid from 1,2-cyclohexanediol (1,2-Col) was studied using tungstate as catalyst, phosphoric acid as additives, hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The kinetic model was established and the reaction kinetic equation was obtained. The results showed that the oxidation reaction order was 0.98 to 1,2-cyclohexanediol and 0.3 to H2O2. The activation energy was 46.92 kJ/mol and pre-exponential factor of the reaction was about 9.48×104 L0.28/(mol0.28·min). The oxidation kinetic model was verified, in which the average relative error between the calculated and experimental values was 0.2%, which indicated that the calculated values were in good agreement with the experimental results.
