High-Efficiency Nanofiltration Membrane Construction and Performance with Interfacial Composite Active Layer

Abstract Nanofiltration membrane technology has been widely used in water treatment processes, but it still faces problems such as reduced permeation flux and fouling during long-term operation. In this study, the amino functionalized zeolite imidazolium ester framework-8 (AZIF-8) was combined with sodium alginate (SA) hydrogel network on a porous substrate to construct an organic-inorganic nanocomposite active layer of high-efficiency gel network to prepare a composite nanofiltration membrane (SAZM) with strong permeability and excellent anti-fouling performance. The combination of AZIF-8 and SA hydrogel could overcome the problems of agglomeration and compatibility of nanomaterials. The hybrid nanogel network imparts nanofiltration membranes with strong hydrophilicity and antifouling properties provided a convenient path for the transport of water molecules. The results showed that SAZM exhibited stable interception performance against the divalent salt Na2SO4, and the permeation flux increased from 4.1?10-2 L/(m2?h?kPa) to 16.3 ?10-2 L/(m2?h?kPa), an increase of 297.6%. In the bovine serum albumin contamination experiment, SAZM showed excellent anti-fouling performance, and the flux recovery rate reached 95.1%.
