Abstract In order to realize the continuous production of 1,3-malondiamine series fine chemical products, a kind of internal loop air-lift slurry reactor was designed. The experimental results showed that when the superficial gas velocity increased from 0.007 to 0.028 m/s, the gas hold-up increased linearly under four solid hold-up conditions. The increase of solid phase concentration decreased gas hold-up of riser, while increased gas velocity of regime transition under the same operating conditions. Pressure had little influence on gas hold-up and gas velocity of regime transition. The variation of bubble characteristics caused by pressure was the main reason for the difference. Three-Euler method and RNG k-ε turbulence model were used to establish the numerical model of the circulating slurry reactor. The model fitted the measured data well with a maximum gas hold-up deviation 8.9%, gas velocity of regime transition deviation 5.0%. The simulation results showed that in the range of 0.007-0.028 m/s, increasing solid hold-up would decrease the liquid circulating velocity in the same operating conditions, while pressure had little influence on it.
