Preparation and Catalytic Performance of Magnetic Composite Oxide Catalyst for Liquefaction of Lignin

Abstract In order to solve the problem in catalyst recycling, a magnetic catalyst precursor Fe3O4@CuMnAl-LDH was successfully prepared by using the improved co-precipitation method, and the obtained magnetic composite metal oxide catalysts at different calcination temperatures were used for catalytic liquefaction of lignin in supercritical methanol. The analysis of the catalyst precursor with X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) indicated that the catalyst precursor has good structural features. The effects of calcination temperature on the catalyst's physical, chemical properties and phase structure were analyzed by thermal gravimetry(TG), H2 temperature programmed reduction(H2-TPR), N2 adsorption-desorption(BET) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). The catalytic properties of catalysts calcined at different temperatures were investigated at reaction temperature of 340 ℃ and reaction time of 120 min. The results showed that the catalytic activity and stability of the catalyst was excellent when the calcined temperature was 450 ℃, and its magnetic properties were still very good after baking.
