Abstract  To develop the process for the dehydration of bio-ethanol producing ethylene with a multistage adiabatic fixed bed, kinetic experiments were carried out in a Æ10 mm isothermal integral fixed bed reactor with the alumina catalyst self-developed. Effects of the reaction temperature, mass space velocity and ratio of water to ethanol on the reaction were investigated experimentally. A power-law kinetic model was built based on the experiments, and the fitting with experiment was very good. Statistical analysis showed that the kinetic model was appropriate.
