Abstract Assisted with the soft template of vesicle phase complicated by anionic and cationic surfactants，nano Cu-Zn oxide composite was synthesized via self-assembly. The effects of the concentration of Cu2+ on the morphology, crystalline, changes in the electron energy levels and electronic structure of the nanomaterials were investigated, and the visible-light photocatalytic property of the ZnO-CuO samples were evaluated. The results showed that with the increased amount of copper, the intensities of the characteristic peaks of ZnO sample were gradually decreased, and the morphology was transformed from polyhedral grains to a lamellar-sheet structure. With the introduction of copper, the energy level changed. With the increasing amount of copper, the density of the photo-generated carriers decreased, and the photocatalytic property of the composite first increased then decreased. The sample with a molar ratio of Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions of 5:95 exhibited the best photocatalytic property.
