Synthesis of MCM-22 Molecular Sieve in the Absence of Boron

Abstract MCM-22 molecular sieve was synthesized by dynamic hydrothermal crystallization using piperidine(PI) as organic template in the absence of boron. The effects of crystallization time, molar ratios of PI to SiO2, OH- to SiO2, SiO2to Al2O3 on the obtained products were investigated. The results showed that the optimized conditions were molar ratio of PI to SiO2 0.50-0.70, molar ratio of OH- to SiO2 0.09-0.10 and crystallization time of 48-72 h. MCM-22 molecular sieve synthesized using PI as template, exhibited the good performance as same as the one synthesized using hexamethyleneimine as template in liquid phase alkylation reaction of benzene with ethylene.
