Abstract   It is difficult to get more accurate kinetic data for the nitration of p-methylsulfonyl toluene because of its fast, high exothermic, and heterogeneous characteristics. The kinetics of homogeneous nitration of p-methylsulfonyl toluene was studied in a microreactor using mixed acid as nitrifying reagent, and a continuous flow microreactor containing micro-mixer, capillary reactor, and millisecond on-line quenching module was built, and the kinetic parameters of homogeneous nitrification were determined. Under the conditions of 88% sulfuric acid, temperature 10-25 ℃, and residence time 1-5 s, the reaction was determined to be a second-order reaction, the pre-exponential factor was 7.16×1012 L/(mol·s), and the activation energy was 50.65 kJ/mol. At the same time, the dynamic model established within the scope of the experimental study was tested. The results showed that the measured values were in good agreement with the fitted calculated values, and the model was effective, which was of great significance for industrial design and safety control.
