Abstract:This paper reviewed the preparation method, synthesis process, process improvement, and market prospect of tetracyclododecene. Tetracyclododecene can replace norbornene as the cyclic olefin monomer for the production of cyclic olefin copolymers (COC) and cyclic olefin polymers (COP), giving it a higher glass transition temperature and stronger toughness. The main raw materials for synthesis of tetracyclic dodecene were dicyclopentadiene, norbornene and ethylene, which were prepared by Diels-Alder reaction under high temperature and pressure. The synthesis process of tetracyclododecene included reaction section and rectification section. This paper introduceed the process improvement methods focusing on reducing or removing by-products and preventing norbornene from solidifying in the pipeline. Finally, based on the current international and domestic market conditions, the market prospects of tetracyclododecene were analyzed, and future process optimization directions were proposed.
