Abstract:In order to investigate the hydrolytic stability of four regularly used hydroanthraquinone solvents, that is, tri-iso-octyl phosphate (TOP), 2-methylcyclohexyl acetate (MCA), tetrabutylurea (TBU), 2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanol (DIBC) in hydrogen peroxide production by anthraquinone process, hydrolytic stability of these solvents was systematically investigated by hydrothermal method under different circumstances such as water, diluted phosphoric acid solution, and diluted potassium carbonate solution. The results showed that TOP, TBU, and DIBC displayed high hydrolytic stability in water, diluted phosphoric acid solution, and diluted potassium carbonate solution, in contrast, MCA showed a poor hydrolytic stability both in water and diluted phosphoric acid solution, which could be hydrolyzed into 2-methylcyclohexanol and acetic acid. However, MCA showed a high hydrolytic stability under diluted potassium carbonate solution.
