Abstract:This study focused on the effects of metal-acid intimacy on the hydroisomerization of n-hexane over Pt/ZSM-5. The intimacy between Pt active sits and acid sites of ZSM-5 was varied by locating the Pt metal sites either in the zeolite or on the Al2O3. The physicochemical properties of the samples were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), N2 physisorption and NH3 temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD). The performance of the n-hexane hydroisomerization over the above catalysts was also investigated at different reaction temperature. Compared with Pt-ZSM-5/Al2O3, Pt-Al2O3/ZSM-5 with nanoscale intimacy between Pt active sits and acid sites exhibited higher n-hexane conversion and higher selectivity of C6 isomers in products. Pt-Al2O3/ZSM-5 delivered stable performance, with no obvious deactivation observed during a 60-hour test.
