Abstract:The saturated vapor pressure of pure components of ethylene glycol (EG) and ethylene glycol diacetate (EGDA) and the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of the binary mixture composed of EG and EGDA were measured using a self-made vacuum VLE device. The saturated vapor pressure and binary VLE experimental results were fitted by means of Antoine equation and Non-Random Two Liquids (NRTL) thermodynamic model respectively, and new binary interaction parameters were obtained. Furthermore, the density and surface tension of EG/EGDA binary mixture were measured at atmospheric pressure and temperature of 313.15-333.15 K, and the molar volume, excess molar volume and surface thermodynamic properties of the binary mixture system were further calculated. The experimental data and calculated results in this paper can provide basic physical data for the design and optimization of ethylene glycol esterification process.
