Abstract:In order to evaluate the accuracy of Reynolds stress model(RSM) and Large eddy simulation (LES) in calculating the flow field of cyclone separator, the characteristics of gas phase dynamic flow field in the cyclone separator were numerically simulated and investigated by FLUENT14. The instantaneous tangential velocity distribution, the intensity of tangential velocity pulsation and the tangential velocity spectral characteristics were analyzed based on the calculated results. The dimensionless comparison between the calculated results and the tangential velocity data measured by the hot-wire anemometer (HWA, Hot-wire anemometer) showed that LES were more accurate than the RSM at the time-average tangential velocity. Furthermore, the instantaneous tangential velocity predicted by LES could give the fluctuation characteristics of tangential velocity caused by the swirling swing, and show the high frequency velocity variation pulsation close to the experimental measurement. However, RSM is difficult to predict the fluctuations of instantaneous tangential velocity, giving only fluctuations in low frequency and small amplitude. Therefore, the LES is used to predict the flow field of the cyclone separator to capture the dynamic information and reveal the dynamic characteristics of the flow field.
