Abstract: The semi-batch reactor has been applied extensively for strong exothermic reaction in fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries. On the basis of ensuring safety, shortening feeding time and reducing operation cycle are the main ways to promote the process more efficient. In this paper, an optimization method for the safe operation conditions of semi-batch reactor with boundary diagram constraint was established, and the reaction results of single constant feeding rate and segregated constant feeding rates were evaluated. At the beginning, a large feeding rate should be used to increase the reactant temperature rapidly and ignite the reaction. Compared with the single constant feeding rate, the segregated constant feeding rates could significantly shorten the reaction time and improve the reaction efficiency while ensuring safety.
