Abstract: The progresses of ferrites (Fe-based) catalysts for butene oxidative dehydrogenation were reviewed. The active sites and the catalytic mechanisms of the Fe catalysts for butane oxidative dehydrogenation were introduced. The reasons of deactivation of the catalysts and the effects of additives on performance of the Fe catalysts were summarized and the development direction of Fe catalysts was also discussed. It was forecasted that developing a new generation of Fe-based catalyst with higher activity, selectivity and strength for butene oxidative dehydrogenation would be the main research direction in the future. Meanwhile, developing the butene oxidative dehydrogenation process with higher resource utilization, lower investment, lower production cost and less amount of wastewater were also very critical.
