Abstract:The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method was used to study the gas-liquid two-phase flow in the Union Oil Company (UOC) type distribution plate of the hydrogenation reactor. According to the data of a factory, the geometric dimensions of the distribution plate were determined and the calculations were completed using the Population Balance Model (PBM) and other calculation models with the crude oil and hydrogen gas as medium. The results showed that UOC gas-liquid distributor was driven by the difference of the internal and external pressure of the distributor on the distribution plate, and the hydrogen and the crude oil were fully collided inside and outside of the distribution plate to mix and distribute. The crude oil existed in many dot-like peak spots after the oil passed through the distribution plate and the central agglomeration phenomenon was observed. Eliminating the central convergence phenomenon of the distributor would be the main direction of its structural improvement.
