Abstract:A three dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was developed to predict the multiphase flow profile of the combined guided valve tray under the full open condition. Eulerian-Eulerian framework was chosen to solve the equations of both gas and liquid phases. The clear liquid height was monitored as the numerical convergence standard of unstable flow field. The inter-phase momentum exchanging term was based on a new correlation for the clear liquid height, which was obtained from experimental data. By compared with the experimental counterparts, the simulation results were verified and more simulations were carried out for various operational conditions. The results showed that the gradient of liquid level andreflux area were small, and the fluid mechanics performance was good.
