Applications and Future Perspectives of Microwave Synthesis in Zeolite Preparation

Abstract:Microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis has attracted considerable attention in zeolite synthesis because of its rapid heating and volumetric heating characteristics. Compared with conventional hydrothermal methods, microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis can markedly shorten the crystallization time of zeolites and offers distinct advantages in controlling crystal size, tailoring morphology, optimizing pore architecture, and improving structural uniformity. This review systematically summarizes advances in the microwave-assisted rapid crystallization of representative MFI, CHA, LTA, and FAU type zeolites, with particular emphasis on the formation and regulation of hollow structures, hierarchical pore architectures, and two-dimensional zeolites. The challenges and future directions of microwave-assisted zeolite synthesis are also discussed.
