Abstract：Nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NCM) ternary cathode materials demonstrate broad application prospects in power batteries and other fields. The electrochemical performance of these materials is highly dependent on the morphological and structural attributes of the precursors, rendering the precursor synthesis process a critical determinant of the product. The efficient and stable synthesis of NCM precursors is inextricably linked to the design and optimization of the co-precipitation reactor. This review highlights advancements in mixing, feeding, online control technologies, and process operation in conventional co-precipitation reactors, along with novel designs like Taylor flow, microchannel, and slug flow reactors in preparing ternary precursors. Continuous optimization of traditional reactors has significantly improved the performance of precursors, while novel reactors also show great potential in achieving narrow particle size distribution and structural uniformity. In the future, the core driving force for the large-scale preparation of high-performance ternary precursors lies in the intelligent design and integration of reactors. This transition necessitates an in-depth understanding of the reaction crystallization mechanism and kinetics, which underpins the development of high-fidelity multi-scale mechanistic models and the deployment of advanced online measurement and control technologies.
