Catalytic Cracking Performance for High Yield of Light Olefins from n-Decane over HZSM-5 Nanosheets

Abstract To improve the yields of light olefins in catalytic cracking of n-decane, the nanosheet HZSM-5 zeolites (ZN-x) with different thickness (7.5-20.6 nm) were hydrothermally synthesized by changing the amount of template (C22-6-6/Na+) and its catalytic cracking performance of was studied. The surface area, mesoporous volume of nanosheets decreased significantly with increasing the thickness, and the external Br?nsted acid content decreased from 65 μmol/g of ZN-10 to 26 μmol/g of ZN-2.7. ZN-2 (17.9 nm) catalysts show the highest yield of light olefins (38.4%) in the catalytic cracking of n-decane at 500 ℃, which is one time higher than that of ZN-10 (7.5 nm) and the deactivation rate decreased by 70%. This can be attributed to the suitable thickness of nanosheet ZN-2, which can balance the diffusion limitation and stability at high temperature.
